Small-business owners in the Brooklyn community said they have exhausted federal and local assistance and see no end in sight after months of sharp revenue drops. Now, many are closing their shops and restaurants for good. This is Cursy St. Surin, he and his mother owns a Haitian restaurant, Kreyol La located in Church Avenue. Mr. Surin was bringing in over $40,000 of proceedings a week. He never thought in a million years that the business he's been saving and working for over 9 years was near closing down. As he was preparing yet for another summer, the busiest time of the year, he unexpectedly had to temporarily say goodbye to his biggest accomplishment.
Mr. Surin (photo'd above)states, " My lifelong dream was to achieve this goal and sustain it. I want to make the Haitian culture proud, but day after day it's becoming harder to keep this goal."
Due to lack of street space, Mr. Surin is unable to provide his customer with outside dining. Therefore, his weekend revenue is no where as it was before March. He had to close inside due to the health department guidelines.
